zoë Carter

Zoë Carter is the Director of Operations at the Monterey County Business Council and past Chair of the City of Monterey Architectural Review Committee

A CSUMB graduate (Go Otters!), Zoë has deep roots in the Central Coast. From helping coordinate the Panetta Institute's county-wide literacy program, to working with businesses and industries in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis at the Monterey County Business Council, Zoë knows what it takes to build a sustainable and affordable future for all of Assembly District 30. Her background also includes time in the Policy Office of First Lady Michelle Obama and a stint as Communications Coordinator at the Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Zoë is currently a member of the City of Monterey's Architectural Review Committee, where she oversees housing development proposals and building plans. She is also a founding member of the Salinas Valley Blue Zones Food Policy Committee, a past member of the CSUMB Otter Student Union Board of Directors, a board member of the Democratic Women of Monterey County, and a long-time YMCA Youth & Government Staff Volunteer. 

She received her undergraduate degree in Human Communication and Global Studies from CSUMB and her master's degree in International Relations from London's Hult International Business School. 

When she's not working, you can find her volunteering with Monterey Peninsula Young Professionals and the Junior League of Monterey County, or at home, growing sunflowers and perfecting the ultimate gluten-free loaf.
